Carolyn, cured my carpal tunnel syndrome and set me on the path of exercising regularly to keep the body balanced, strong and healthy.
Originally, I saw the leading specialist of Carpal Tunnel injuries in Contra Costa County. After doing a scan of both my arms and wrists they found carpal tunnel and before I knew it they were giving me a shot of cortisone, telling me gruffly this was my only option.
At the time, I was 26 years old and I kept thinking this is crazy, is there no cure for this? The only option for someone who is young and healthy was to get cortisone shots the rest of my life? Unless, I get the Carpal tunnel surgery which doesn’t always work and permanently cuts the main tendon in your wrist?
The answer was nothing short of a miracle, but let me start by telling you what led me to see the specialist to begin with.
Symptoms: I developed carpal tunnel syndrome from bad ergonomics while sitting at the computer. After years of not changing how I used my mouse and keyboard I began to notice difficulties with my wrist. It developed to the point of where I could not even hold a mug of water in one hand as it was too heavy. Also when I walked, my wrists would bend in and look really weird.
So, with these symptoms and being told by a specialist that I would never recover I started to take matters into my own hands. I was given a recommendation for a physical therapist, Carolyn Hamilton, from Hamilton Physical Therapy.
That first meeting was so wonderful. I had so many fears. Carolyn had me walk to see how my body moved, what my posture was like and what was causing the wrist bending and the damage.
She assured me that I wouldn’t have this difficulty for the rest of my life, I just needed to follow her instructions for strengthening my body and taking care of it and if I did that she told me I would recover!
Given my previous diagnosis I thought I was done for and there would be no way to recover, what a HUGE relief to be told that not only would I not have this physical impairment the rest of my life, but I could take charge of my life and my fitness and I could grow strong!
After seeing her twice within a month my symptoms reduced greatly, I remember walking on my usual after work stroll and all of a sudden my body was strong enough to hold a good posture and I started to stand tall, friends who had known me for years asked me if I had grown a couple of inches(maybe I did!). It was like magic, or a miracle!
I continued to work with Carolyn and my symptoms were completely gone in less than a year.
After that I still would see her for a while to get her advice for doing correct exercises that would work out all of my body for balanced work outs. I wanted to keep the muscular balance I gained through seeing her.
Carolyn, was patient and was happy to answer all of my questions. I can’t tell you what a relief it was/is to deal with someone who was/is super patient and incredibly knowledgeable. She showed me that it was good that I got a second opinion!
One last story, a little while ago I was in a car accident. My car was rear-ended by the car behind me, than the car behind it rear-ended it and so I was run into twice. My body was hurting and feeling out of whack and I thought I’d need a while to recover but Carolyn recommended I do my exercises for that day. As I had stopped doing them for a few days. After 20 minutes of doing the exercises she prescribed my body clicked back into place!

I am really lucky for all of her help and guidance. Had it not been for Carolyn Hamilton I would still be getting cortisone shots every 4 months and would have two wrists that couldn’t function.

If someone is one the fence about going to physical therapy because of cost be sure to call Carolyn’s office as they accept many forms of insurance other offices do not. My recovery with carpal tunnel was fast but I continued to see her to ask for her advice on strengthening the body for a few years after that. My insurance completely covered the process so I didn’t pay anything!

I’d been to two other physical therapy centers, in the area and in the two visits at each location, no real analysis of my personal situation was rendered and no progress ever made. At Hamilton the time was taken to analyze my issues, they were reviewed with me, and some personal therapy given that when I left I actually felt better. What a concept! It’s great the center is busy with excellent therapists at the helm, but it does take a little time to get acquire appointments. Can’t wait to get back in there!

Before I came to Hamilton I was in bad shape, I had foot pain for 1.5 years and no one and nothing helped until I came to HPT. Since that time I can walk, I have no foot pain, and whenever I have pain in my body I know who to call. I give my friends the phone number to call when they need relief! I am grateful that I have finally found a caring and experienced PT office that can actually help without making your symptoms worse. Not only do they care about your body, they care about you as a person.

I am a Nurse and had the good fortune to be referred to Hamilton Physical Therapy by a physician collegue of mine. My original injury was a broken ankle. However during the time of my Rehabilitation and therapy with Carol she found that there were other issues with my foot unrelated to the fracture that she was able to fix. I had been seen by two different Podiatrists and an Orthopedic Surgeon in for 2 years and still had problems with neuromas on the bottom of my foot; itonically the same foot as the fracture. The Orthotics that they had made for me we’re not fixing the issue: In fact they were completely wrong. With Carol’s careful assessment and intervention skills she was able to order a pair of orthotics that she is helping my foot to finally get better. Not only was she able to bring my ankle back to full function after it was broken she was able to fix an issie that the Podiatrists and Ortho couldn’t even figure out. I would recommend Hamilton Physical Therapy in a heartbeat. For any injury or rehab that you need.

I received excellent treatment for my recovery from extensive shoulder surgery. I now have full range of motion in my arm. My surgeon is very impressed that I have done so well. I had very little pain or discomfort that other friends complained of during their shoulder rehab.

My therapy was mostly for my neck problems and Carolyn really helped with the massages and stretches so that I have a better range of motion and less discomfort. Also the entire staff is really friendly and they make you feel comfortable during all the visits.

The best physical therapy I ever had! They take time to heat your joints and muscles before working on them and my therapist was very knowledgeable about all the inner workings and how to help the healing process. They take their time with you as they allow an hour for the whole tx including the heat.

I have been going to Hamilton Physical Therapy on-and-off for about 15 years for various injuries due to wear and tear from working at UPS for 30 years. Carolyn is a miracle worker and has amazing skills with her hands-on physical therapy. I have known Carolyn for seventeen years and have never left a therapy session without learning something new and valuable about my health; she’s a great listener and remembers everything: my habits (good and bad), information from medical doctors and alternative practitioners I deal with, even the shape I was in eight years back. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable and did a good job of listening to me and evaluating my problem. My PT, Carole, was friendly, personable, and efficient. She was genuinely interested in helping me. I was impressed with her knowledge and suggestions!
